The 2016 competition season got underway with the Scottish Gymnastics Championships held at the Bells Sports Centre Perth this weekend.

Notable absentees were both British squad members from Scotland, Junior Louise McColgan of City of Glasgow, and Espoir Anna Hollins of Largs.  Hopefully Louise will be ready for the British Championships in a few weeks time, and I’m sure everyone wishes Anna a speedy recovery from her elbow injury so that she is back to full strength as soon as possible.

In the Espoir category Ellie Breadner of City of Glasgow took the title, followed by Anna Gibson of Dynamic, and Kacey Morrison of Largs.

The senior title went to Cara Kennedy of City of Glasgow, followed by Sofia Ramzan of City of Glasgow, and Shannon Archer also of City of Glasgow.

Cara was obviously delighted at taking the senior title, and had this to say about her achievements:

“It feels amazing I have never won the senior title before, I have won it at espoir and junior but to win it at senior is a whole new level it’s really good. “I have always wanted to complete the set (gold at all three levels) and now I feel really happy that I have. “I was pleased with all of my routines today I have got different achievements on all of them I was most pleased with floor and beam.”
