With under a week until the action gets going in Cluj-Napoca Romania, read on for information on how to follow the British team as they aim for success at the 2017 European Championships.

As it is every other year, this Championships is an individual event only, meaning that for the WAG a maximum of only four gymnasts may be selected, and we now know that those gymnasts are Becky and Ellie Downie, Claudia Fragapane, and Georgia-Mae Fenton.

Gymnasts will compete in qualifications hoping to score high enough to qualify for AA and apparatus finals. As usual, only the two highest scoring gymnasts from each country may advance to the AA and apparatus finals from qualification.

The first target for the GB WAG here is to qualify one gymnast for the AA final, this will be Ellie, and then we have seen Georgia compete AA this year, and Claudia so far only on beam and floor, so we shall see if either are put up AA.
The second target is three to four apparatus final spots, there is definitely the potential to achieve and surpass this, as Ellie will likely make the vault final, Becky, Ellie, and Georgia will be battling it out for the two available bars spots, Beam again there is the potential for a battle for two final spots between Ellie, Becky, and Claudia, and then on floor Ellie and Claudia will both be hoping to qualify.
Medal wise the target is 1-2 across the championships, achievable and surpassable by these very talented ladies.

As this is an individual championships, the GB ladies will not rotate as a team, they have been drawn in pairs, with two going in subdivision one at 08:00 UK time on Thursday 20th, starting on vault, and two going in subdivision three at 14:00 UK time starting on bars.

How to follow

In very happy news, there is going to be a live feed of the entire event this year, so huge thanks to the UEG for providing this, as we often don’t get coverage of qualifications.

The link to follow is here:

http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ueg/

Also the BBC will be providing excellent coverage as they so often do, covering AA and Apparatus finals live online and on Red Button. They will also have coverage on BBC2 on Saturday 22nd of April from midday, and then a full highlights show again on BBC2 on Monday 24th from 10.30am.

I will of course be keeping everyone updated here with scores, reports and video, as well as on the Facebook account, the twitter feed @BritishGymnews, and Instagram account @britishgymnewstics.

Enjoy the championships everyone!
