The following gymnasts have been selected into the British Junior Squad (World Class Programme) for the period January 01st – March 31st 2018. This squad is for girls in both junior years so for 2018, 2003 /2004 born. Exceptional second year Espoir gymnasts (2005 born) are also offered places.

Is Zoe Simmons not senior this year?

Zoe Simmons is senior this year, as indicated in brackets by her name, but she has been included in the junior squad list for this period.

Is it possible for an official from British Gymnastics to explain why Zoe Simmons and Megan Splain are both listed for next year’s junior squad despite the fact that they both turn senior next year?

I don’t know whether squad selection is something that they would be prepared to comment on to be honest, you would need to contact British Gymnastics ask them.
I have no idea myself, but of course there will be a reason for it. It may be that as the squads are only three months at a time, it was decided that it would be more beneficial for Megan and Zoe to spend another few months in the Junior Squad before joining the seniors.
